# What are we filtering and how is this useful?

### Language

![image](media://5abb689d-b53d-4ebc-bc40-4b198ec75b65)

The language default is declared by what is assigned in the [Account Settings](https://inphonite.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KBINTERNAL/pages/923533313). If your Rule is for a different language, we recommend that you change this to the appropriate language.

> ℹ️ If you make changes to the language, please ensure the language drop down in the [properties](https://inphonite.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KBPUB/pages/1062076417) of the message you are attempting to deliver are updated as well. If you do not, you may hear inconsistencies.

There are 5 custom fields that can be filtered to. When the account is established, you and your implementation engineer should assign what is expected in these fields and provide a nickname to the custom field under the System settings. If you have not established this and wish to, please [contact support](https://inphonite.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/KBPUB/pages/1114735442/Filtering+inside+of+the+Rules+Engine#Support) to assist in reviewing your configuration.

The fields vary, but our most popular configuration is the provider would be located in custom field 1, the locations are in custom field 2, and the reason(s) or appointment type is in custom field 3.

You can assign a filter. if you need to send two different distinct messages, you can select 1 rule with = (is) and then the other rule with != (is not).

The magnifying glass, search symbol will show all active values in Art of Chat for the field you are filtering for. The possibly available filters are listed below.

### Delivers Survey

![image](media://206a29dd-db5f-47b3-b7b4-db22a17ccfbd)

This flag should be enabled if a survey is being sent to the patient. If the client unsubscribes from surveys, they will be added to the Do Not Contact list for surveys only.

### Use Strict Scheduling

![image](media://034a88e4-4f6e-4ac9-96d2-7f061980ebf1)

This allows the rules to queue appointments within the configured event trigger only. If this is unchecked, the rule will queue appointments regardless of how the event trigger is configured.

> ℹ️ Example: Your event trigger is set to trigger the rule when an appointment is scheduled 2 days from today.

> ✅ With “Use Strict Scheduling”: The reminder will trigger today sending reminders for appointments scheduled 2 days from today.

> ⚠️ With “Use Strict Scheduling” off: The reminder will trigger today as well as new appointments generated between today, tomorrow, and 2 days from today.

### Rule Active

This allows messages to be automatically queued if an appointment matches the event trigger and the rule filters.
