# Advanced Search

> ℹ️ In Advanced Search you can look up a patient by their name or any of the fields associated with their contact or appointment.

## How to use Advanced Search

> 📝 *Advanced Search* operates by searching on a specific field. Simply locate the field you want to search on and type in the value.

> ⚠️ For the example below, if you wanted to find all contacts with the last name **Jones**, you would select the *Last name* field and type in **Jones**. Then click *Search*.

### Advance Contact Search Controls

| **Advanced Contact Search button** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |

> ℹ️ After clicking the Search button, all of the contacts that match the search criteria will be listed in the contacts column on the left side of the screen.

> ℹ️ The total number of contacts that match the search criteria is listed alongside the number of contacts that are currently being displayed.
