# Introduction

The online version of Inphonite, we call it our "Software-as-a-Service" or SaaS version, can integrate with your scheduling system just as our on-premise version does. There are two ways to import your data. You can manually import a file containing the patient and appointment data, or you can automate the import of that file.

This article discusses how to automate the import of your data file for Inphonite.

# More Information

The import of data to Inphonite may be automated by installing the "Inphonite Client Uploader". This is a small application that can be downloaded to and run from your computer. It is configured to look in a particular location for your data file (or connect to a SQL database) and will upload the appointments file automatically, without your intervention, to our server for import.

*Please note: Prior to use of our Client Uploader, setting up an account and the configuration of an import on our servers is required. If you have not done so, please **[contact](http://www.inphonite.com/contact/)** our office prior to using the Client Uploader to submit a sample file for configuration purposes.*

**IMPORTANT: The Client Uploader runs as a service in Windows, meaning that it is a long running application which will open when the computer boots and will run regardless of the user logged in. You may lock the computer, but powering it down will prevent your import from occurring.**

To download and configure the Uploader, you would do the following.

**Step One.** Download Inphonite Client Uploader from **[http://packages.inphonite.com/uploaderinstall](http://packages.inphonite.com/uploaderinstall)**. You should choose to *RUN* this download once it completes.

**IMPORTANT: You will need to have rights to make changes to your computer. Also, by using our uploader you are accepting our ****[Terms of Service](http://voice.inphonite.com/portal/resources/tos.pdf)**** and our ****[BAA](http://voice.inphonite.com/portal/resources/baa.pdf)****. **

**Step Two.** Now you will want to launch and configure the Uploader. Once the installation is completed, there will be a new icon on the desktop. Find the file **Client Uploader** and double click.

**Step Three.** This will open a window that requests your Inphonite login and password. It will look like this:

Enter the username and password for your account. The uploader will stay logged indefinitely. Click *OK*.

**Step Four.** Next, a page will display, as shown:

Click the *Import Configuration* button. A menu that looks like this will display:

Click *Add* in the bottom left corner to add in an import. Unless you know you have more than one, you will most likely only need to add 1. *Import 1* will display.

The* Import Name* can be whatever you choose.

Make sure *Import into account* is accurate and the *Server-side import* field is set to the name of to your customized import (In the majority of cases there will only be one option. This will usually be named after your company.) Set the I*mport Frequency* to execute either continuously, hourly, or at a specific time according to your preference. Then click *OK*.

Under *Import into account* there should only be one option in the drop down menu for your account.

Under *Server-side import*, you will have at least one option for the which file goes where. If you have a more than one option, they will most likely be for recalls or different locations.

*Please note: If you set the import schedule to "Daily", you must ensure the file is present for import prior to the selected time or your import will not occur that day. To be safe, we recommend selecting "Continuously" or "Hourly" rather than "Daily".*

The *Imported files path* field should be left alone.

If you have not been working with technical support on a direct database connection, *Local import type* will be set to file. If you have a SQL database backend for your practice management system, we can connect to it using the uploader and pull appointments automatically without a need for a file.

Under the title *File Uploader Settings*, type in the complete file path of the appointments file you will be importing in the section labelled *Source import file* including the name of the file.

Another window will open requesting the file name and path for the import file. In the *File to Import* field, type the full path to the file, including the name of the file. For example: **C:\Temp\appointments.txt**.

Under *Import Files Path*, type the path to the folder you would like to archive the files in after they are uploaded. For example: **C:\Temp\Imported**. Like so:

**IMPORTANT: The Uploader must have full rights to the directory from which we are importing as the file does get renamed and then deleted from that volume.**

Click *Save*. Configuration is now complete.

If you wish to test it, you may click *Run All Imports Now* on the Dashboard tab in the menu. Please make sure the file is present in the proper location prior to doing so. Allow 10-20 minutes for the upload and processing of the file to complete. When these functions are complete, your appointments should show in the *Appointments List* calendar in Inphonite under the date of the appointment.
