Some clients may request to opt out of reminders or any additional outreach from your practice. If your imported data does not already filter out these requests, **Inphonite provides a built-in safeguard**: the **Do Not Contact List**.

This guide will show you how to use it effectively and ensure your contact efforts stay compliant with patient preferences.

---

## 🔍 What Is the Do Not Contact List?

The **Do Not Contact List** is a manual override list that tells Inphonite **not to send certain types of messages** (text, email, phone, etc.) to specific patients, regardless of what your data contains.

> ℹ️ **Location:**
> ℹ️ Accessible via the **Quick Links Dashboard**, under the **third row** labeled **"People"**.

### Step-by-Step Instructions

1. **Sign in** to your Inphonite account.
2. Navigate to **Do Not Contact List** from the Dashboard (third row).
3. Click **New** to open the entry form.
4. Fill out the form with:
  - A **10-digit phone number** or a valid **email address**.
  - **Field Type** (defines what type of communication to block).
  - A **Reason** (e.g., “John Doe – Prefers no calls” or just “John Doe”).
5. Click **Add/OK** to confirm the entry.

> ⚠️ **Important Tip:**
> ⚠️ Avoid using `Primary Number`, `Secondary Number`, or `Mobile Number` for field type, as **source data mapping may vary**. Instead, block by the **message type** (Voice, Email, Text) to ensure better accuracy. Use `Auto` to prevent all contact methods.

---

### 🧠 Understanding Field Types

| **Field Type** | **What It Blocks** |
| --- | --- |
| Auto | All contact types (text, phone, email, etc.) |
| Voice | Phone call reminders only |
| Email | Email reminders only |
| Text | Text message reminders only |
| Survey | Survey outreach attempts |
| Inbound Text | Prevents number from texting you |
| Primary Number | Messages to the contact's Primary Number field |
| Secondary Number | Messages to the contact's Secondary Number field |
| Mobile Number | Messages to the contact's Mobile Number field |

### To Remove

1. Return to the **Do Not Contact List** via the Dashboard.
2. Locate the phone number or email of the contact.
3. Click the **Trash Can icon** to remove the contact from the list.

> ℹ️ This action will **immediately re-enable contact** for that contact method.

## 🔎 Filtering the Do Not Contact List

To help you manage your Do Not Contact List more efficiently, **Inphonite provides a built-in filtering tool** that allows you to quickly search and isolate entries.

![image-20250422-203954.png](media://4f5d9943-5c3d-4003-a2b4-91cefb39f394)

You can filter the list by:

- **Phone Number**
- **Email Address**
- **Reason**

> ℹ️ **Use Case Example:**
> ℹ️ If a client calls and says they are not receiving reminders, you can search their **phone number** or **email** to check if they are already on the list.
> ℹ️ Conversely, if a contact needs to be removed or re-added, you may use the **same** filter to locate their entry quickly and take the appropriate action.

This makes it easy to:

- **Verify if someone is already blocked**
- **Identify outdated or duplicate entries**
- **Clean up records before re-adding a client**

---

## ⚠️ Additional Notes

- **Name is not used for blocking.** Inphonite uses only the **phone number or email address** to suppress messages.
- If **multiple clients share a number** (e.g., a family or shared home phone), blocking that number will prevent **all associated accounts** from receiving notifications.
- It may help to include a **name in the Reason field** when possible to simplify future identification.
